I started this project in early June of 2024. This would have been the second piece I hand painted with acrylics and most likely took 20-30 hours. Final Fantasy VI was a a very big part of my early video game experiences. My brothers and I would create binders full of information as we progressed through the game and at one point we were grounded from playing games before school due to needing “just a few more minutes” to beat a boss in Figaro castle.
I’d like to do a few more of these character portraits in the future. The sprite was grabbed from Spriters Resource.
This was still pretty early in my pasting career and my first time using the telescopic ladder seen in the second to last photo. This is also the only piece I’ve made that I had to break up into two sections before pasting. I naivly thought a little bit of drafters tape would hold the two pieces together as I attempted to maneuver them in place and nearly destroyed the Mog as it folded into itself dripping with glue. Thankfully I was able to seperate the pieces and managed to get it secured with only a small bit of his back being damaged in the process.
Much to my delight this piece is still up as of June 2026.
